What a great weekend for golf! The Clif Cunningham Member / Member went off without a hitch on the golf course. Scores were higher than usual, with some tough pin placements. John Nason and Alan Swan came out of the gates hot on Saturday, shooting best rounds of the year, and accumulating +6 points over their quota to take the Day 1 lead. Duane Delellis and Jeff Duerr were close behind, shooting +4 over their quota. Mike Wimer and Matt Linsler, Aiden Feeley and Pat Feeley, and Mark O’Neill and Joe Benzinger followed closely behind, by matching their quotas exactly. On Sunday, the temperature was high and so were the scores. Wimer and Linsler finished the event strong at an even 0, matching their 2 day quota total. Nason and Swan had all the oil leak out, finishing at -4. The most excitement came with Duerr and Delellis. A strong first 9 on Sunday had them far and away in the lead, but they faltered in the middle of the back nine. Brian and Ken Beck had a great showing on Sunday finishing the event at 0 points, which gave Duerr and Delellis strong competition. Going into #18 on Sunday, Jeff and Duane were in a 3 way tie for the tournament with Beck and Beck, and Wimer and Linsler. Jeff and Duane limped down the hole, only needing 1 point to secure the victory. Jeff made an unfathomable double bogey on 18 for no points, which left Duane and his 12 footer for par. Unluckily it slid by, but the 2 footer for bogey dropped in, which was enough for 1 point and to secure the victory of the 2nd Major of the year. Thanks to everyone who played and participated! It was wonderful seeing 90 members grinding hard through two days of stiff competition.

Looking forward to this week, we have our regularly scheduled leagues on Wednesday and Thursday, but open golf Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, which has holiday hours. As a quick aside, sign ups are in place for the Ladies Senior Club Championship, the Men’s Senior Club Championship and the Ladies Fleck Member / Member. As always, please remember damaged areas from tree removal are ground under repair, as are wood chipped areas. Please use the mirror behind #16 men’s tee to see if the fairway is clear. Also, please repair all ball marks and sand your divots in the fairway. The golf course is in great shape, lets all pitch in to continue that through the hot and humid season.
